Cool Video: Lunic at Jillian’s in Albany!

Here are live videos of Lunic playing at a venue called Jillian’s in Albany. These videos are shot by Tobiaz.

As some of you Albany folks may or may not know by now, Randy McKinley, the 7 string bass man is an official full time member of this band. You can see him playing in these videos.

I wish I was at this gig last night, but I’ll try to make it to a Lunic show in the future sometime.

Enjoy.

Is this the same Randy “Thunder Fingers” McKinley who played the THUD STAFF for WANTED! back in the day? I used to go see WANTED! at Saratoga Winners, Bogies, Valentines, and the G-Spot in Cohoes. They were LOUD. Randy’s low end rumble was so loud if you ate some beaner food at El-Loco earlier in the night you were likely to have involuntary bowel movements in your pants throughout the evening at a WANTED! gig. WANTED! kinda patterned themselves after old school VH (Van Halen) where each member would have a solo spot in the show. The guitar player would do a hammer on solo, getting “inside the note”. The drummer would do a crowd pleasing solo. The singer would do 10 minutes of kata and paint a fence like Ralph Macchio in Karate Kid. RANDY would do this wild ass solo on a 4 string bass that had a body like a bottle of Mad Dog 20/20. Crazy ass shit. I can imagine what he’s like on a 7 string bass. I’ll have to check this Lunic out sometime.

I AM RANDY POFFO AND I HAVE SPOKEN!

    Ah Salaam a Lakers!

Wow, man. You kept hyping them up and I didn’t think they could live up to the praise. But they’re even better than you said!

I would go see them next time for sure. I just hope they aren’t at the Knick next time they play local. I can’t afford those tickets plus you won’t be able to hang out with them if they get that big. They are headed to big things for sure 100%.
The last time I saw some chick playing violins in Albany was about 10 years ago at least. What a screeching yenta she was. Oy vey. Always cackling like a henhouse set on fire by a rabid racoon, she was. I feel pressure behind my eye just thinking about it. She was called “Amy Abdou” and she really had that clove cigarette, artist, I’ll-bang-anybody-because-I’m-a-free-spirit hippie thing down pretty good.
This Lunic girl is way classier than that, though. I’m def going to see them at a show somewhere in Albany or Troy or Ft.Edward or Saratoga or Schenetady or Cohoes or Lathams or Glens Falls. Violin in a rock band can only be pulled off by people with talent who arent total ego posers.
I wonder if the Lunic girl is dating the bass player. That’s how that usually goes.
thanks for taking the videos Tobias! Did he get to talk to her?
If I interviewed her I’d wonder how she feels about that coyote attack and if she takes extra precautions now. I do. I bring a kitchen knife with me if I have to walk the dog now.

Thanks for the video, man. Rock on.

I think Tobiaz did talk to her after the show, in his myspace page he posted a pic where he showed her autograph. Katie Paige the lead singer of Lunic is a pretty cute looking chick.

Lunic is indeed the best band in the Capital District area.

I wish other bands would be just as talented as them. Most bands around here are boring bar bands that wants to get women with missing teeth and fat guy drunks that want to get their dance on, and party. Lunic is a band that is way more than that. Lunic has something going with talented songwriting skills.

As far as I know, Katie is single. According to her facebook page, there is nothing on there where she says she is dating someone, so I assume she’s single. She probably is.

I want to get back to playing live again sometime, in hopes of getting the opportunity to start sharing shows with Lunic. I’d love to open for them. I won’t ignore it if they ask me.

      Kev
