Thought: What would Kurt Cobain think of the Foo Fighters?

November 23, 2009 Kev Brock Leave a comment

I’ve been listening to a lot of Nirvana’s “Reading Festival” and “Bleach’s 20th edition”, both albums are amazing as Nirvana always is. After listening to these albums, I’m sure everyone wonders what it will be like if Kurt Cobain is still alive.

If Kurt was still around today, Nirvana will still not be together ’cause before Kurt’s death, Nirvana was about to break up anyways.

You just wonder what Kurt would think of the Foo Fighters music. Do you think he would love it or would he hate it?

Me? Knowing Kurt Cobain’s musical style, of the type of music he likes. He mostly liked dark punk music, stuff like the Meat Puppets to the Pixies. Mostly stuff that we never heard of back in those days.

I would think Kurt would hate the Foo Fighters. He might think they are too pop and silly for Kurt to listen to. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Foo Fighters, I think they are great. The Foo’s are different from Nirvana. Kurt would feel uncomfortable with Dave’s songwriting. Sorry Dave, but I think Kurt is rolling in his grave about the Foo Fighter’s music.

It’s just something I can’t see Kurt getting into and can’t see him enjoying it.

I think Kurt would like Courtney’s music with Hole and her solo stuff, ’cause I believe Kurt helped launched Courtney’s career. Hole was already formed way before Kurt’s death. I also read that Kurt collaborated with Courtney in Hole on a few songs for the single, “Ask For It”. Knowing Kurt Cobain’s sense of humor, I’m sure he would make fun of  the Foo Fighters.

Kurt was an amazing singer and songwriter. Even though all of his songs in Nirvana had a few easy chords for each song, they were still amazing to listen to ’cause Kurt had his own style writing these simple songs.

Nirvana deserves to be Hall of Famers, definitely, but their first single “Love Buzz” still has four more years to go to be eligible. They are getting close to 25 years, don’t worry, they’ll be inducted soon.

Report: Man to marry female video game character from, “Love Plus”…

November 22, 2009 Kev Brock Leave a comment

Do people have too much time on their hands? It appears they do. There is this guy that is a hardcore video gamer. He is a huge fan of the video game, “Love Plus”. He is so obsessed with the character, Nene Anegasaki, that he is going to marry this character. The character is only fictional, not real and in a video game. Is this guy serious? Yes, he’s really doing it.

More on it here:

Hey, if you can’t hook up with a real woman in real life, more power to him. Does this mean I get to marry, Lara Croft of the Tomb Raider games?

Cool Video: Sarah Palin did the right thing leaving the Noblesville, Indiana book signing…

November 22, 2009 Kev Brock Leave a comment

I know she’s getting plenty of hate for this, but I honestly love her even more, not being sarcastic either. Sarah didn’t quit on her fans that the haters claim. These fans don’t deserve an autograph and a “meet and greet” by her. She has her own reasons for this and it’s her business.

This is life folks, everything is not perfect the way you want it. Celebrities and politicians can’t please everybody, so don’t hate her for this. If you were true fans of Sarah Palin, then you would respect her decisions.

If I travelled to one of her book signings, to wait in the freezing cold and rain for hours and if she ditched us, I would understand, and not whine about it like they would. Things like this happens all the time at autograph signings. Celebs refused to pose for photos and refused to sign autographs with me in the past before, it happens.

The people that heckled Sarah Palin after she left were all being very childish, anyways. Boo hoo.

UFC 106 was the best ppv I’ve seen all year…

November 22, 2009 Kev Brock Leave a comment

So last night, I watched UFC 106 ppv, and it turned out to be the best PPV of UFC I’ve seen all year-long. I was impressed with pretty much every fight, except for the first one, “Amir Sadollah vs. Phil Baroni” was kind of boring fight. The rest of ‘em were amazing.

The fight I was impressed with the most was Josh Koscheck vs. Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. That fight made WWE’s Wrestlemania looked really bad. It felt like a Wrestlemania fight, but it was ten times better. Koscheck and Johnson are both very technical fighters, with speed and strength. Yes, both were very quick. There was a point where Johnson, busted Koscheck’s eye to a bloody mess with his knee and couldn’t see through that eye. It was an illegal move. The fight was about to end because the officials felt that Koscheck couldn’t move on, but Kosheck himself talked the officials out of cancelling the rest of the fight, which they didn’t. They kept the fight going and Koscheck was still able to fight even with a busted eye.

Koscheck with a busted eye, pissed him off. So that fired the guy up and fighting even more aggressively. Koscheck decided to bust Anthony Johnson’s eye in return, by doing what it looks like a punch at first, but Koscheck pokes Johnson in the eye with his index finger. So that got Johnson’s eye injured badly. Josh Koscheck got his revenge. The fight still kept going, beating the hell out of each other in a very quick motion and Koscheck won in the second round by a tapout from Johnson. Amazing fight, I had goosebumps watching this one.

“Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin 2″ was also actually a very good one. I never saw the first fight before, when they did a re-run of the first match for UFC “Unleashed” on SPIKE before the PPV, the fight was kind of embarrassing, they were fighting like pussies in the first fight.

The second one which is considered to be the comeback of Tito Ortiz, coming out of a hiatus, it was actually a much better fight than the first. Tito sucked…still… all he did was stand there, didn’t punch or kick that much. All Tito did was do a bunch of take downs. Everytime Tito tried to do a takedown, Forrest Griffin would avoid ‘em. Forrest was making it look too easy to escape the takedowns from Tito. Even though Forrest had a bloody face, yes, blood was all over his face, Tito was bleeding too a little bit…Forrest was able to get the win by split decision.

Gotta hand it to Forrest Griffin, he gets my respect. He did really great and much improvement. Forrest must of worked really hard to get his revenge on Tito and he was successful. I would much prefer Forrest knockin’ out Tito really hard, but I have a feeling that Tito will challenge him a third rematch with him. So maybe next time if another fight happens between these two.

The ppv was really really good, and I’ll probably watch these two fights again this afternoon.

Thought: Metallica meet and greet videos in youtube…an observation…

November 22, 2009 Kev Brock Leave a comment

Ever since the Metallica Albany show, I’ve been watching all the backstage Metallica, “Meet and Greets” at their shows during the World Magnetic Tour so far in 2009. While I’m very impressed that the band loves their fans and they enjoy meeting them, I gotta be honest about a few things.

I’m noticing that Rob Trujillo is very soft-spoken, he seems kind of shy and nervous going around meeting people he doesn’t know. He seems like a nice guy though I’m sure the fans wish he would be more upbeat.

Kirk Hammett, the same with Rob. Except Kirk is always smiling all the time, I’ve never seen him angry. Kirk always seems very happy and upbeat, but he doesn’t talk to the fans long enough. Just a handshake, a few autographs, posing a few pictures with fans, and that’s it.

James Hetfield, he is a very talkative person and outgoing. It seems he loves talking to people and meeting complete strangers. It seems he enjoys talking to people no matter what they look like. He’s very respectful. Only thing, that James does have a huge ego problem when talking to fans, but I do respect him on wanting to get to know his fans.

Lars Ulrich, he seems like a nice dude but he’s another one of those people who won’t shut his mouth, always talking all the time and acting like a class clown in high school. He’s the most talkative person out of all the band members. He’s willing to sign anything that people shove in his face and willing to pose for pics with people as well. He seems to enjoy the “Meet and Greet” action the most out of all the band members.

Wish I got a backstage pass to the Albany, N.Y. TUC show. How do these fans get backstage passes to Metallica concerts? They probably win ‘em off of radio station contests. Also, the fans probably know the people who work for the venue. Not really sure how else they get ‘em. They’re probably not really that hard to get that people think.

Thought: How Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight” is inspiring for adult men…

November 21, 2009 Kev Brock Leave a comment

Yes, the “Twilight” series were mainly aimed toward the younger audiences, but notice that more and more adult men are starting to read the books, and seeing the movies. I am noticing that most men are slamming these series because of its teen content and soap opera like romance. Not giving anymore detail than that on why they think the series suck so bad. I am also noticing that most of these men haven’t even read the books or seen the movies. I think it’s because they want to fit in with the other haters to bash everything that goes mainstream.

What would make men get interested in reading the books or see the movies in the first place? I think simply because they are curious. They want to get into “Twilight”, to get an idea of why teens love ‘em so much. Just like me, they are fans of vampire stories and they want to see Stephenie Meyer’s take on them. I’m pretty sure men get a little embarrassed at first, that they feel like a fool getting into teen “Twilight”, but once they read the books or see the movies, they’ll find them not so bad after all and actually enjoying it.

I have also read plenty of reviews of “Twilight: New Moon”, mostly men slamming the movie and giving the film negative reviews. Most of them say that the new film is a teen’s dream, something that kids would want, but some men still hate it.

You see, fellas, it doesn’t matter if you like or hate the series, either way. As long as Stephenie Meyer got all the men talking about these series, she is successful for that reason.

It might feel a little weird to go in a movie to see a bunch of shirtless muscle men in one movie, but you gotta admit it, that these guys have great bodybuilding physiques. It’s not gonna make you feel gay for getting into “Twilight”. It will make you feel like a “man”.

Stephenie is a great, unique storyteller. She knows how to grab people’s attention, either good or bad. As long as people are talking about these series, Hollywood will bring us more.

Men enjoy soap operas and campy romance, that’s why they enjoy these “Twilight” stories. They simply want to know what it will be like to be in the teen world. Men are also hypocrites when it comes to bashing “Twilight”, because of its teen content and romance.

They really shouldn’t be bashing these series, when most men are into silly comic book superhero flicks that are aimed at kids, a lot of men are into Pixar films that are aimed for children, and a lot of ‘em are into Disney flicks as well. So if you’re going to bash “Twilight” you gotta stop and think about some of the other kiddie things that you enjoy. Men are even into Spongebob and Pokemon. Not to mention, Star Wars as well.

“Twilight” is the Star Wars for teens. Give the teens respect for this ’cause they deserve this entertainment. I’m looking forward to seeing “New Moon”, will hopefully see it soon, hopefully this weekend.

Report: Dustin Hoffman WILL NOT appear in “Little Fockers”, he is a bit greedy and egostitical…

November 20, 2009 Kev Brock Leave a comment

Dustin Hoffman will NOT appear in “Little Fockers”, the third installment to the “Meet the Parents” series. The reason? He wants to be in the movie longer, but the studio only scripted him as a small cameo at the end of the movie, Dustin wasn’t happy about that. He also wasn’t happy with the scheduling and wanted to be payed more.

Barbara Streisand is still appearing and she’s still on for her role.

Entertainment Weekly reports:

http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2009/11/19/dustin-hoffman-little-fockers/

Come on, Dustin, stop being a whiner!!! Where’s your professionalism? Of course, legendary actors like Dustin Hoffman’s ego will get in the way, that they think they are worth millions for films. He probably think he is bigger than Barbara Streisand.

At least, she’s still being a professional and accepting her cameo without whining. Dustin is just being a whiner, that is all. Gotta love greedy rich people!

Report: Brock Lesnar WILL fight again in 6th months…

November 20, 2009 Kev Brock Leave a comment

This is why Dana White should shut his mouth and stop making claims about Brock never being able to fight again. Brock’s martial arts coach says, the Champ, will return to the Octagon in 6 months to defend his title. Yes, Brock will keep the title while being sick and he will  return once he fully recovers.

TMZ reports:

http://www.tmz.com/2009/11/20/brock-lesnar-ufc-fight-illness-stomach-dana-white-wwe/

Great news! We don’t have to worry about Brock ending his career or worse don’t have to worry about him dying! Get well Brock and keep fighting it!

Report: Stephen King and Steven Spielberg to work together again, they will bring us, “Under the Dome” to the small screen!!!

November 20, 2009 Kev Brock Leave a comment

Steven Spielberg and Stephen King, once worked together to bring us, “The Talisman” into a TV min-series, but the project was dropped due to budget costs. King and Dreamworks just greenlighted the rights for, “Under the Dome” to be made into a TV mini-series. “Under the Dome” is a brand new novel by Stephen King that was just released.

Variety Reports:

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118011629.html?categoryid=10&cs=1

Now that JJ Abrams is no longer doing, “The Dark Tower” series into a movie, somehow I get this feeling, that Spielberg might take over.

It’s great to see King and Spielberg working together after all these years. Hopefully they’ll get something on the big screen too, and it should be, “The Dark Tower”. I think Spielberg would make a great, “Dark Tower” movie too.
